My husband, myself & 13 month old twin sons will be moving to Preston Road in Plano soon, into a 2 bedroom, 2 bath 873 square foot apartment. Just wondering how much we should expect to pay for utilities? We are responsible for water, trash & electricity. Thanks in advance!

I would suspect your water & trash should run less then $50 a month. You have no yard to water so it should be the bare minimum.

Electricty can vary a lot by how hot & cold you like to keep your place. We are having mild weather right now and your electric bill should be $75-100 with your big bills coming in the summer running $200-250ish.

Just my guess.

Preston Road is a really really busy road. Make sure you can get into or out of your apartment complex either with a traffic light or hired policeman directing traffic - if the only way in and out is Preston Road.

What Rakin mentioned is pretty close to what we have. We live in less then 1000 sq.ft unit,
1. we paid over 2000 kwh (approximately $200+) per month for electricity during summer, for the mild weather (last month) 85+
2. Water and sewage we pay $65 to $75 per month
3. Trash - less than $15 per month

Even high speed internet is also high compared to other parts of the country where we have lived. We pay $65 against $35 we use to pay for the same bandwidth

Enjoy your new place.

High speed internet shouldn't cost you more than about $30-35 a month unless you need very high speed. The average Joe speed is fairly reasonable.

We have crappy insulation. We pay 150 - 250 average - I have seen bills of 500. Trash/water $45. Our cable/phone/internet plus package from TW is about 120.
