Timarron. It's south of Southlake Blvd and just east of White Chapel.

Wow, your husband must work with my DH! Same work/fly situation. We live in Las Colinas and he can be at the airplane gate or at his desk in under 30 minutes. We don't have a school issue but if we did we'd be looking in zip code 75039 or 75063 which are Las Colinas/Valley Ranch zips in CFBISD and Coppell ISD. Otherwise, we'd be looking at Coppell. Some of the folks at my DH's company live in Southlake and Flower Mound. They HATE the commute but love the communities and schools. FWIW, the commute will actually get WORSE for traffic between Southlake and Irving on 114 for the next 3 years due to major highway reconstruction projects.

It's always been bad and I don't think the drive has gotten worse, just under construction. Also, Hwy 114 by the old Cowboys Stadium is torn up now.

When these 2 projects are finished, the drive should be 200% better then it was before it ever started.

Thanks again for the great information. How is airplane noise in Southlake vs. Coppell, and then how much difference is there in commute time from both of those cities to downtown Dallas? Am I supposed to assume a minimum of 1 hour commute from Southlake to downtown even at off hours? Also, Squirl, you mentioned friends in Southlake and Flower Mound. Who has the better commute of those two? Schools really are my #1 priority, so at this point, until I learn more, I think I am narrowing it down to Southlake, Colleyville, Flower Mound and Coppell.

i'd schedule 50-60 minutes for Southlake and 35-45 minutes each way for Coppell.

I've lived in both Southlake and Coppell, SLC for 20 years and Coppell for 10....the plane noise never bothered me and you forget about it, imo. As for the drive to Dallas, Squirl is about right, an hour but that also depends on where you live in SLC...if you live on the west side, it could take 15-20 minutes just to get out of there. If you live closer to 114, it might not take as long. Just depends.

As for Coppell, I lived closer to George Bush/35 off of Sandy Lake and it took me about 25 minutes to get to Dallas...and that was with no traffic.

IKES!!! How about Flower Mound? Assume 1 hour again in off traffic like Southlake?

What crossroads did you live on in each of these cities? Are some places better than others in Coppell for plane noise as well? Thanks!

Have you timed it from this new house to downtown Dallas?

Not sure where you now live but in such a large spread out area like DFW a 40 minute commute is almost the norm, 50 minutes is not unusual.

Getting into downtown from any of the suburbs is not a quick trip. Especially if your criteria is 1. Schools & 2. A limited Budget.
