This is very true, it varies by area. When I lived in Southlake I used the pending sign all the time but it was also those days where we showed homes and took contracts with us to beat the others.

The MLS requires us to change the status within 5 calendar days otherwise, if anyone reports us, we can be fined $50 for every day that it's not changed.
