Yep comin from the East Coast I have no experience with that either, although lately been hearing more squabbles about windmills out here. 6 of 1, half dozen of the other I guess..I would get that map I mentioned from the town, I believe it has an overlay of the drilling, and there is alot of information on town meetings on the subject. You're not alone, residents in the town don't like it either, and Denton county unfortunately has alot of it.

There are people here who live there now on this forum who are well versed (Adixz I believe) on the subject and super helpful to me when I asked this question. Do a search and see if you can find my thread, I will look too.

Either way you're on the right track and with your budget you might consider Southlake and Colleyville as well. Although SL is alot snootier. I go often to visit out family there, thats how w discovered FM. Once we found it, we stopped looking at any of the other towns we had on our list.

Particularly check out west Flower Mound and the area off Wichita Trail for some homes on larger lots

As far as the gas drilling goes, I wish I knew more about it. I will say that my parents have lived there for 7 years and are considering moving within Flo Mo to a larger lot and it doesn't concern them.

I think McKinney at SBR is awesome. But if you want some "elbow room" for sure I would go the FM area. Also Southlake and possibly Trophy club, if your husband needs to be super close to DFW. But if he doesn't or doesn't travel multiple times per week or month then Lewisville and the Castle Hills area would be awesome as well (30-35 min in traffic).
