I'm almost positive it's along the Trinity River somewhere, but I'm not sure.
If it is, does anyone know if this was taken at a park or something (somewhere I can plug into the GPS )? I'm heading in the downtown area in a few hours and wanted to stop and take some skyline shots.
Thank you!!

That is from North Oak Cliff (west) Trinity River levee looking east. The Trinity River is in a MAJOR flood stage, so the entire river channel is full of water. This only happens every 5 years or so.

It's in flood stage in the photo, not currently, right? Any ideas of other places to get good shots of the skyline?

Not currently in a flood stage. You can get some good shots (with zoom) from the Belmont Hotel - it's perched up a bit - it would be facing the same direction as this photo.

I'm thinking this is from the Trinity Overlook at Beckley and Commerce. I've taken pictures from there myself. Another place I like is the Mockingbird bridge over the river. It's further away but you can see more than just downtown. I think it would be a great panorama shot. I haven't been here long but these are a couple of places I've noticed.

By the way, they're building a lake near the Trinity Overlook so some day it should look like that all the time.

One note - I bought a framed copy of that photo many years ago, and it came with a note on the back saying that the "reflection" was accomplished using creative photo processing. It is NOT an actual reflection of the skyline in any body of water. I just thought this was worth mentioning so you wouldn't be disappointed if you're unable to find a place where you can take a similar photo. I'm sure you can get the skyline from one of the locations others have mentioned, but I would be really shocked if you found a place where you could capture an actual reflection of the skyline in water that will look as beautiful as this artifical reflection looks.
