I know, they can't go to work. But they can be on line at 3;30 am for a rental voucher for a free apartment

love it- seen it on channel 8 this morning. The anchor was interviewing people out there live- boy I tell you what.....just like you said they can't get up dress themselves properly and go to work but they can stand in line for hours for a free place to live....

I understand there are SOME people in this county (and country) that might benefit from it- however our hard earn tax dollars pay for the majority that don't.

Funny thing was my 17 year old was watching it with me this morning and she was shocked at how these people where acting.

I saw this also. I am shocked at how many people were there. I didn't see many elderly or disabled people. They all looked like they could go to work and make a living for themselves. I saw a 20 year old applying for housing assistance. I don't understand why she would need housing assistance. There are plenty of apartments out there that are reasonable enough to afford. My husband and I made it on very little money in our young 20s when we got married and did not rely on the government, then these people can make it on their own without any assistance from the government. I bet there are quite a few of them driving expensive cars too, but getting free housing and free food off us taxpayers.

Yep I'm all for giving my fellow man a helping hand when they need it. Welfare started out as a great idea back in the "New Deal" era; a widowed woman with no work skills needs time to get some skills and get a job so welfare steps into the gap and provides the financial means to make that happen. Fast-forward 80 years and women avoid getting married and pump out babies to qualify for extended benefits. The Hood and the trailer parks are full of such individuals.

If someone is down on their luck and really trying to get off the dole I am all for helping them. In this country it really does not take all that much effort to get above the poverty level; get a job at MacDonalds, show up on time and sober and in 6 months you'll be assistant manager. I don't know, perhaps its me or the way I was raised, but working seems easier to me than suffering through a riot to get a hand-out.

I hope at least some deserving people got some vouchers.

I seen many with their nails done- hair done- minus the nice outfits. However did see one or two nice outfits.....I am sure most had "nice rides" and money on the side

I found the televised foot race to be particularly ironic since it happened at the Jesse Owens athletic center.

Generation after generation is taught how to milk the system for all its worth. That's their only job -- learn how to get as many taxpayer freebies as possible.
