I agree with previous posters, including TC80, who suggested Lake Highlands (the new build she mentioned on Deer Trail is a block away from me). There are some new builds in the 500k range. It would be an ideal commute for you. It has a suburban feel but also has the proximity to downtown and Northpark (shopping). Lakewood has more character but also, to me, has a more urban feel.

@Squirl--is that guy who is moving married or single--I would imagine that he is sans children and probably it is NRHills vs Richland Hills--that is really older town closer in to FTW (but might be where he is renting)
if he really IS in RH then I am sure he is looking to move

If you want to be ON Lakewood CC golf course the only streets where a teardown and rebuild 'might' be affordable are La Vista in the C Streets or Santa Fe in Hollywood Heights - there may be some restrictions on what you can build as I know HH is a Conservation District (don't think that was passed in C Streets). However, you would have a great investment and be able to watch the 4th of July Fireworks from your backyard.

There are no conservation/restrictions in the C-Streets (formerly Gastonwood-Cornoado Hills, now called Lakewood Hills). I don't recall a for-sale sign, but there a newly empty lot on Coronado overlooking next to the golf course right now....then again, buying/building would require a lot more than $500K and the lot is pretty small.
