I think if you want older homes in nice areas, you need to spend some time doing your homework. As you noted, there are many older homes here, but many in areas you would not want to live. However, there are actually areas with older homes around Dallas that are extremely nice. I think most cities around the US are like this though, so it's not just a Dallas thing...you just need to be a little more careful when shopping for an older home.
