Looking for any comments good bad or otherwise about Sparkman Club Estates. Sounds like many of the homes in that area have had foundation problems. Good area for families with young children? Any comments would be welcomed.

In the Dallas area, its not a question of "if" your foundation will need work, but "When"...... the (generally older) homes with pier and beam foundations are less likely over the long haul to need foundation work that requires great expense. Slab foundations generally require more expensive work. I have not heard of Sparkman Club Estates having exceptional foundation issues beyond what we find all over. The area is quite popular; it has a well-rated elementary school and a pretty involved community.

Squirl nailed it.
Sparkman Club Estates is considered one of the best "inside Dallas" places to live for families.

Thanks so much....do you have an opinion on Melshire Estates on the other side of the tollway? Seems like another great neighborhood inside Dallas.

Search prior City-Data threads. Sparkman Club Estates has come up many times for it's mix of location / price / community/ good public schools.

I live in the general area and know many people who live in Sparkman Club. In this area, Sparkman is known to have worse foundation issues than surrounding neighborhoods both due to the soil conditions particular to the area and the fact that many of the houses were built on slabs rather than the more typical for the era pier and beam foundations. I've known several people who had to do very extensive foundation repairs. Otherwise, it is a great neighborhood with a real sense of community. People who move to Sparkman tend to love it -- just be sure that you get a professional foundation inspection.
