This is a question for long time Dallas citizens who have a recollection of our changing downtown. As a high school student interested in the history of Dallas I have been doing some research on the history of some of our taller buildings. Unfortunately I have yet to find construction groundbreaking dates for many of our tallest buildings.

Could anyone provide dates for when these buildings broke ground, and when they were finally completed??? Date of groundbreaking to date of completion is what I am looking for. If so I would greatly appreciate it!

Bank of America Plaza
Elm Place
Fountain Place
Thanksgiving Tower
Comerica Bank Tower
Chase Tower
Cityplace Tower

I am aware of the Wikipedia sources, however those dates conflict with others I have heard. Thank you in advance for any help that you can provide.

Best.

Have you gone to the Old Red Museum near the West End? Lots and lots of Dallas history there.

I can't think of a particular one at the moment, but there are website(s) that concentrate on that sort of information.

Bank of America Plaza, 1983. Known as InterFirst Bank at the time. Changed names over the years: InterFirst, I worked for InterFirst back then. InterFirst merged with Republic to become First Republic. First Republic to NCNB then to NationsBank. NationsBank was then merged with Bank of America.

Not sure if its still there but the perot museum has an exhibit downstairs that shows the process of building the massive building. They also have lots of things on display that they uncovered while digging.
