It's all relative. Coming from the east coast (DC, NY, Boston, Phila) or any big city - yes you get more for your money, size-wise (some lots in HP/UP aside, but still bigger than what you'd get out east). However, if you're from a smaller town, midwest or south, then you're not going to see a huge improvement in dollar per square foot.

Head east if you want value. Forney, and heartland area you can find quarter acre lots with 3000sq ft house that is a few years old for $160k. You can build for $200k
