Are neighborhoods near Lake Ray Hubbard fairly safe crime wise? Is there an area that should be avoided? Any recommended areas, including zip codes? Houses no more than $340,000. How about the lake itself, is it fairly clean, no major bacteria or amoebas to be concerned about/safe to swim in? Thanks!!

Yes, both Rockwall and Rowlett are nice, safe places to live. You won't find a lake view or lakefront property for that price, but you can get a house in The Shores or Chandlers Landing for that price.

Hubbard is one of DFWs major reservoirs. Amoebas can always live in any warm water lake, so always take precautions.

It's a very safe area & a desirable one for suburban lake living.

The lake is huge but quite active with boats, swimming coves, etc. I have skiied and swam there many times without a thought.

I live close to the lake and swim there often. I do notice alot of broken glass/ random trash from time to time but that is to be expected. When the water heats up, the bacteria count grows, but that happens everywhere. I usually don't swim there in July or August cuz it's just too darn hot that its not even refreshing to swim! Haha
