Western Plano has experienced two power outages in the past few months for just under 2 hours tonight and under 4 hours a few months back. The system tries to come back on via a secondary routing of power it seems but never does. How can this happen? Where can I learn the facts surrounding these two outages?

I looked at Oncor's web site and no outage was reported for the area I am in and my entire street was out, nor would the website let me report an outage. I could not try to access or report my outage without power for my PC, I did have access to the phone number either but will write it down for future use given it keeps happening fairly frequently

It could be so many reasons speculations is pointless. Have you tried Ask Oncor? In the lower left hand corner of the page you can describe your situation and get an email response in return. I know some people have had questions answered successfully in this manner.

Thanks, I finally found a way to email them. Lets see what they say. FYI I just used contact oncor via email since I could not see Ask Oncor on the web page for Oncor I located.

Thanks again

Thanks for the update, yes I live not tha far from this Tex Mex place. They do have good food!

Oncor did not have this outage on their map for the area, and did not answer why we had the outage when they responded to me today. I wont not be chasing it so hard if this were the first outage recently but it is not. At least it was shorter than the first was, it lasted 1.5 hrs at my house as confirmed by Oncor's email

It used to be really bad from 2001 to 2006. Every Friday if it was windy out of the North, we'd lose power.

Check your door for a hanger from Oncor; they've been doing day-long power interruptions in this part of Richardson for "system upgrades". After Monday's "upgrade" my u-verse went out (along with the entire street's) and it took over 24 hours for AT&T to acknowledge a system outage and restore service. Very annoying.

I called Oncor bc my side of the neighborhood kept having outages while my parents' side was still on.

They investigated and wound up replacing a transformer.

I finally got an answer for what caused the outage. Oncor says it was some under ground equipment impacted by the rainy weather and ground movement. Who am I to question it. They did not have an answer about why it did not show as an outage on the map they keep, but I have their reporting phone number saved in my contact info on a phone that will work without power to make sure they hear quickly about it and perhaps maintain a record of these outages in case there is something systemic going on tha tneeds o be addressed.
