It may also have to do with the physical size of the DFW metroplex. One of the biggest stressed objections a lot of CD posters make is to ask if people know where in DFW they will be working before offering up where they should live. You could have a 2 hour commute each way if you do not know ahead of time.

The reference point is very important. Dallas is average in just about every category. Traffic is worse than a lot of cities but better than others. The people I've notice complain the most about Dallas traffic are either from Dallas or somewhere in the mid-west and just really haven't experienced anything worse. Other things you may see written about Dallas are that it has a lot of pollen and that it's humid. That may be true for someone from Arizona or Colorado but coming from Atlanta, Dallas is a very dry, pollen-free place.

That's 100% accurate. We have one active poster who gripes constantly about everything Dallas including the traffic - doing so paints a false picture IMO.

Anyone who honestly gripes about traffic here should give Boston, Honolulu, LA or The Bay Area a try.

Agreed 100%. I thought my life was going to end the first time I got stuck in San Fran rush hour.

It's hard to compare the two cities. That's like comparing hell to hell.

Dallas surely has a terrible, terrible traffic, but Atlanta isn't that much better either. Do we have to pick between two hellholes?

Dallas is the only city in the world people will spend $100K on a sports car so that they can drive 15 miles below the speed limit. It's like a huge joke. In Dallas, the race is about "who drives the slowest" and at times it feels like they give away medals to the slowest commuters, because people drive THAT slow.

Ummmm, wut. I guess you haven't been on the assumed 90+mph tollways recently.

If Dallasians knew how to drive and didn't drive like brain-dead zombies, commuting would have been much more pleasant in Dallas. Traffic light turns green from red and by the time anyone notices and starts moving, it already goes back to red. People live in slow motion, and every second, they look like they are about to fall asleep here in Dallas. I suspect that half of the drivers get their daily sleep while they are on the wheel.

Not one bit of this sounds accurate IMO.

That's ridiculous. I was just on DNT, not 15 minutes ago, cruising at 80.
