I was looking at crime maps on Trulia and Allen crime incidents are higher than Frisco and Plano though its a smaller town. Coppell's rate seems high for their small size and common reputation they have. Are these numbers correct?

That doesn't ring true to me; after looking at the Trulia's site I'm wondering if you might have been looking at an hourly or daily view of crimes rather than the annual crimes per block view. While Plano is a very safe large city, Frisco, Allen & Coppell probably have even lower crime rates, since their demographics trend towards higher income and fewer multi-family/rental properties.

In general if you can purchase a good home in any of these cities you'll be safe, but will still want to lock your doors and get an alarm as there's crime everywhere, especially if you give criminals an opportunity.

Allen, TX crimes - Trulia.com

It seems off, it's too much for a small city like Allen.

202 crimes with a population near 100K over how long of a period of time? Doesn't seem outrageous to me.

Funny, the map I pull up shows 13 crimes all nonviolent. I think if you zoom out it starts to include crime from Plano and other surrounding cities as well. When you go to the SpotCrimes website directly it shows only 30 incidents for 2013.

That Truila map seems to only show the past week of crime, so I'm not sure it's particularly useful. Unless the criminals are all Santa Claus and only crime one week a year, or maybe there is some button I missed.

Per the FBI's Uniform Crime Reporting Data Tool for 2012:

Violent Crimes per 100,000 (Murder, Rape, Robbery, Aggravated Assault)
Allen - 61.9
Coppell - 67.4
Frisco - 79.5
Plano - 130.7

Property Crimes per 100,000 (Burglary, Larceny, Motor Vehicle Theft)
Allen - 1,612.9
Coppell - 1,655.3
Frisco - 1,650.1
Plano - 1,841.7

Since this looks like a ranking, I should also pass along the FBI's Caution Against Ranking
