Actually, throw in gun slinging (or is that clinging), and that seems to be what the conventional thinking is on Texas. That image seems to get played up a lot in the media, but the reality is much different.

Keep in mind that much of the growth in the city has been from the two coasts over the past many years.

Having lived/worked in several large cities, it does not seem much different in Dallas than elsewhere in everyday aspects of life. However, I don't frequent bars, so cannot attest to what people here say, under the effects of intoxication, and if that is more or less than elsewhere.

Ha, As a social liberal living in Plano, the second most conservative city in the country. I have never been in a conversation with a stranger that the subject came to the forefront. Out here, most of us are fiscal conservatives.

I agree; I think a lot of my neighbors are Republican. I assume so anyway, based on the political signs that pop up periodically on their lawns. But we don't talk about politics. I can't remember the last time I got into an argument about politics with someone I didn't know very well. I argue about politics with friends and family occasionally, but we KNOW each other so it's OK.

Plano is more conservative than Park Cities? That would be news. I'd guess that town where no one at all voted for Obama would be #1...that or Pasadena.

What I saw some years ago was Provo #1, Plano #2. This is not the case any longer and the following is currently the consensus.

Provo

Lubbock

Abilene

Hialeah

Plano
