Popular Dallas ISD principal at Rosemont Elementary to lose her job | | Dallas Morning News

Quote:
Rosemont Elementary School is considered a neighborhood gem in North Oak Cliff, boasting everything a Dallas ISD campus aspires to have: strong academics, passionate students and devoted parents. Those parents credit Anna Brining, Rosemont’s principal of 15 years, for that success.
But now they fear the school is in jeopardy. They learned Wednesday that Brining was told that her contract will not be renewed after this school year. And they believe it’s in retaliation for their activism.
Already Wednesday, Rosemont families began to rally to support Brining and try to keep her there. “It is completely unfathomable that Ms. Brining won’t be part of Rosemont next year,” said Trina Ochoa, who has four children at the school.
I have a few co-workers with kids at the school that seemed to like the principal's vision for the school. Wow.

It is our neighborhood school and we're pretty devastated. Miles must go.

Actually it seems like the school board should too. They keep hiring problematic superintendents.

And of course the Miles haters are already out in force without knowing the full story.

DISD is a failed district that does a horrible job of educating children. We all agree that the district needs to be reformed from the ground up. We bring in a reformer, then all the unions scream bloody murder because... heaven forbid... a superintendent who needs to turn around a failed district wants to make PERSONNEL CHANGES! Shocking! Then the "community leaders" who are invested in the old patronage system come out of the woodwork because their sad little kingdoms are much more important than actually turning DISD into a functional school system.

Do you know the full story? Do you live, contribute and champion the North Oak Cliff community? Are you familiar with the amazing job this principal has done to improve a school? Are you familiar with how Rosemont's existence and performance can be a deciding factor in people choosing to buy a home in Oak Cliff? If not, get off your high horse.
