We will be moving to Dallas, next summer (2016). My son currently attends a pretty competitive private school. Will there be any good private schools in Dallas with an open spot for a 3rd grader? Or, should we just move to a very good school district (and have a smaller house)?

I believe most competitive private schools would only have availability by attrition in 3rd grade. You should still apply - most deadlines in early 2016, and entrance testing should be completed this fall.

On Sunday Sept 13th there is a private school preview happening at St Mark's and many local and out of state private schools will participate. Since you are out of town it may not be convenient to attend but still thought I would share info.

Good luck!

It will be mostly attrition spots in third grade. Since you are moving out of the area, try askng at your current school if they could help with placement in Dallas. I know out school can help with out placement for relos. Good luck with the move.
