My family and I will be moving to the area later this year. We are looking to be commutable distance to Plano/Frisco area, but still have a little room to stretch our elbows, so are looking at areas where we can get 1 acre+. We also have two kids who will be finishing middle school next year, so good schools are top of the list as we look at neighborhoods.

Researching sites like US News and Newsweek, Lovejoy schools seem to rated very highly. We toured the schools and really liked what we saw and heard. Looking through various forums, it seems that people have very strong opinions on the school district, both good and bad. Unfortunately, most of the information is a couple of years old and could be based on dated information.

Can anybody comment on their experience with the schools from over the last year or so? Any thoughts on the culture of the towns (Lucas/Fairview)?

Thanks in advance.

We are three years out of Lovejoy.

We did one year in Lovejoy.

Fortunately we rented, so it was an easy jump back to Wylie.

That was the kids' request, and they seem happy with the choice.

Was cleaning my home-office yesterday. . . . .

Came across a bag with a Lovejoy Educational Foundation logo on it. In larger print, it had the Logo and name of a Real Estate Company. Sort of think that said it all. Kind of a Real Estate Marketing Fantasy Land. Really recommend renting if you want to check it out for yourself, first hand.

YMMV.

My kids are in Lovejoy ISD, but they are elementary school age. We moved here about three years ago and read the same "strong" opinions. We have been extremely pleased with the ISD so far, and our friends and neighbors all seem to have had wonderful experiences as well. I've seen no evidence of the online drama in the real world.

I've had kids in Lovejoy schools since 2004 and we have been in the area since 99. We love it at Lovejoy and so do our kids. It's not perfect but it's a great fit for our family.

Lovejoy's secondary program (6-12) is relatively new (2006 was when the high school was built and first graduating class was 2010). There is some shifting around of rankings with up and coming schools (Lovejoy, Frisco, Prosper) and more established districts and their strong supporters see it as a fad and question the data. Find where you and your family are happy and don't worry about what others think, some may have their own agenda.
