This question is for anyone who has lived in Irving: What is your opinion of the city? Is is a decent place to live? What is the night life like in Irving?

I live in Irving. I like the location; close to Dallas and using 161/190 can get to Plano in about 20 minutes; 161 South gets me to Arlington in under 20 minutes. About 30 minutes to Northpark and about 20 minutes to Galleria. Can't address nightlife but a new entertainment district is going up near Williams Square; new convention center and new Dart rail station all coming soon! Campion trail is good walking. Community theatre is fine; library tries hard to offer appealing programs. New dog park and shelter.

I don't think there is any nightlife at all in Irving. But maybe I am wrong.

I was in Irving yesterday, south Irving to be exact - and I felt it was *VERY* run down. 183 looks terribly depressing.

south Irving is very different than north Irving. If you havent seen north Irving, you should look at that

I agree. North Irving is completely different than south Irving.

If you are in Irving, then you should definitely go up north and check out the Los Colinas area. It's pretty upscale with lots of restaurants & shopping. It's also very coporate-y, if that's your thing.

Irving is good if you want somewhere quiet and "boring". Some parts are pretty run down. I grew up in the Northwest part near 161. It's pretty safe.

Irving is a great place to live. I lived in the Valley Ranch area which is just north of I-635 and bought a home in South Irving several months ago; very different locations but they have their strengths and weaknesses. I do agree from others that parts of South Irving are rundown, but I can assure you that there are some wonderful areas south of 183 as well. The downtown area is being revitalized with commericial and residential real estate developments over the next several years. The great thing about Irving IMO is that it has pretty much any type of diversity you could want, and it's nice living in the heart of the DFW metroplex.

I live and work in Irving. Las colinas area to be specific. I like it here, have to agree that south irving is completly diffrent than north irving. Las Colinas area is beautifully but boring at night, there's a lot of shopping available during daytime. but a new entertainment complex is due in about a year or so right on las Colinas blvd
