Where I hang, Indians rent in a cluster of apartment buildings. They are happy, always having group gatherings and snubbing everyone else. With your limited budget, you should consider renting in an area where your "people' hang.

If you feel scared, then you are out of your element. Find a place that aligns better with you.

Indians in the DFW area don't always stick with their own kind in one particular neighborhood. None our friends do. Most of them just make sure a mosque or temple is nearby if they are observant.

With 230k budget now it is almost impossible to get you any good house in safe areas. You can think of buying a condo in Las Colinas but you need to sacrifice the school. Do you have any kid?

Look in Las Colinas. Huge demographic of Indian families. Also very, very low crime rate. In addition to Irving police, the Las Colinas area has its own police force. There is an agent on city data named Rakin who specializes in that area.

Why don't you buy a townhome in Irving or Lewisville with Coppell Schools.
Plenty of homes in Carrollton in your price range.
