Where is your job going to be? There are apartments on in Plano on Coit Road that should meet your needs, and possibly a half dozen other locations.

Out of your requests, the most restrictive one is the requirement of 2 miles to a grocery store. that will narrow your searches to areas with good walkability.

The bolded will be difficult. Is there a reason you picked Frisco and Plano? Those are both big cities with lots of apartments.

If you're really that interested in being close to a mall, there are really only 2 malls in both cities (Willowbend and Stonebriar). There are tons of apartments off of Parkwood by Stonebriar, but you will not be that close to a grocery store.

Good luck with all of those, especially keeping away from construction in some parts of Frisco & Plano.

There are more malls than that, they just aren't officially called malls. The stores on the corner of Park & Preston has all the same stores as a mall and Whole Foods & Trader Joes are nearby and there are apartments nearby.

Cool Springs in Frisco at the corner of Parkwood and Gaylord. Short walk to Super Target for groceries. Also walkable to Stonebriar Mall, which I did to pick up something that I had shipped to a store. We rented washer/dryer from Azuma. Limit of 2 pets but extra charge. We lived there for 8 months after being moved here for my job and left because we wanted to own rather than rent.

I want to eventually get a house there for investment reasons. Also due to the ISD,
heard great things. Plus there is a huge South Asian professional community there.
