Hello, hoping to move next summer of 09 to the Dallas area. How is traveling to Mexico from there? Direct flights, how long do they flights take? I would love knowing I can visit one of those awsome resorts whenever I need a beach fix.

Thanks!

I've only been to Coz and Cancun from Dallas, but we always got direct flights...

Of course, that was years ago (2000 was the last time we went), but I wouldn't imagine that's changed...

Yes there are direct flights to Mexico. I am going to Cozumel this summer and the flight time looks to be a little over 2.5 hrs.

We just went to Playa del Carmen, so we had to fly to Cancun... American offers direct, but we found Continental to be cheaper during spring break... and managed to score a free first class upgrade on the way there.

Cozumel and Cancun are just a couple hours away. From your front door to the hotel... probably 5-6 hours.

Belize is only another 30-45 minutes away. These are some of the best diving spots in the world, all with direct flights. No doubt, this is a nice benefit of our location!

We often fly on a charter flight since they are cheaper - Worry Free or Sun Country into Cancun and then drive south to our fave destination.

You can fly direct to most all of Mexico from DFW. Flights range anywhere from 2 to 2 1/2 hours. I've flown direct from DFW to Cancun and Cabo many times. EASY!!!!!!! Belize is about a 2 1/2-3 hour flight direct from DFW. If you can't find a direct flight also check on Mexicana as they ticket share w/ American. Your ticket might say "Mexicana" but you could be on an American Airlines plane. Look into changing in Mexico City instead of state side. Changing planes in Mexico City is EASY!!!!!!! I'd recommend that over Houston or Phoenix (USAIR - YUCK and I'd rather WALK to Mexico than ever fly them again).

FYI: These flights fill up fast and I mean FAST as us Texans LOVE to travel and many have a second place in these locales.

Been to Coz twice in recent years and heading back in June. We do the direct flight to Coz rather than the bag drag from Playa after flying into Cancun. The flight itself is usually around 2.5hrs. One year we flew out early am and got to our resort and on the beach well BEFORE lunch. Customs is usually no big deal but our trip in 2005 took us almost 2hrs to get through because there were 3 flights that arrived within mins of each other. That is a rarity. You can get your Mexican beach groove on with little pain or effort from DFW.
