Try the arboretum, the farmers market, the food hall at the Statler, Deep Ellum, the African American history museum at Fair Park or ice skating at the Galleria... and get some boba tea somewhere, thats better than a cocktail in my opinion when having a fun day.

I am not a big fan of heat, so you will note all my suggestions are fully air conditioned, if that sort of thing matters to you.

I cannot say enough good things about the JFK museum, as someone already suggested. need to do that for sure if you haven't

If you like fashion, the Dior exhibit is at DMA

You guys might enjoy The Star in Frisco (though somewhat outside) for an especially Dallas-y thing to do. If you do that I HIGHLY recommend Ascension https://ascensiondallas.com/

Right by our condo there’s The Granada Theatre https://www.granadatheater.com/calendar/

Always fun and lots of street and patio dining right there on Greenville Ave.

The Farmer’s Market is great if you stop in on your way home so you can go home with produce you bought there.

Its hot in July, so maybe the Perot Museum (altho maybe save that for when you have the kids) and also the Bush Library. Perhaps some adventures like flotation tanks, indoor wall climbing, etc. When we were raising kids, I found myself sad if we went to things where there were lots of families....... Perhaps try a hooka lounge? A comedy club?

You might also consider a day trip from Dallas to Jefferson, TX ..... only about a 90 min drive east from the city.
