This really needs to be in the Dallas forum.

You're just about in the center of the metroplex, so without a good budget its going to be quite a drive. What is your budget, will he be working on the N/S/E/W or central part of Arlington (makes a big difference), do you really want the rural feeling or will half an acre in the suburbs work and finally what is the maximum commute time he can deal with?

What's your budget for that half acre? There are some properties on larger lots in north Arlington that may work. I will say that a half acre is not "rural" at all.
Are good schools important?
How much of a commute are you willing to tolerate?

Look in Argyle and Saginaw on the north side; and actually you may find some properties in Euless or Hurst. Right in the heart of Arlington is Pantego…. A little incorporated area in the middle of Arlington with larger property sites. And if on the south side of Arlington, look in Kennedale and even Mansfield for 1/2 acre lots.

What’s the budget? Where in Arlington is the job? Are schools important? (Although the schools are ok in all the areas mentioned above.

I did a search on Realtor.com for single family homes with .5+ acres just in Arlington and there are some! Zip codes 76016 and 76017 generally have the better Arlington schools. Zip code 76006 is a great north Arlington location and has some beautiful neighborhoods.

Dalworthington Gardens has more large lots than Pantego does.
