My daughter just got accepted to Westwood Junior High. She loves science and Math. Now we get to choose between Parkhill and Westwood. I can't decide. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.

Following because we'll be facing this choice in a few years. My son says he wants to go to Westwood but can't give me a good reason why. I do like that it has a math magnet, which he is excellent in. But I have a strong feeling that most of his friends will be going to Parkhill. I've been told that Parkhill is snooty but otherwise I have no opnions on it.

We live in a managed choice area so we get to choose which school our kids go to for junior and senior high. My main question is, if we choose Parkhill, does that mean we must go to Pearce for high school instead of getting to choose which school, and vice versa? But this is a few years down the road for us. Which school does your daughter prefer?

All 4 of those Jr Highs that are geographically close together (Westwood, North, West, and Parkhill) are all ranked very close to each other. All good options

As for which one to choose I'd make that decision based on what high school she wants to go to rather than base it on the junior high. The high school will be 4 grades instead of only the 2 for junior high + the high school level is really where you'll be basing your the important decisions on (AP classes, clubs/activities, sports, magnet/stem)

I'd work backwards, find out which high school she's interested in (based on her needs/wants) and then pick the Junior high based on that. If she wants JJ Pearce then go to Parkhill where 95% of the students will feed into Pearce or if she wants Richardson High then go to Westwood where 95% of the students will feed into that school
