I thought I would share 2 websites that I use a lot to check the traffic before heading to work and stuff. Both have maps showing wrecks and costruction, as well as how fast traffic is moving and estimated commute times from different locations around DFW.

TXDOT Traffic
Dallas/Fort Worth Traffic Conditions

NBC 5
Dallas-Fort Worth Traffic, Transit, Autos and Road Conditions | NBC Dallas-Fort Worth

Hope this helps!!!

Default More Links

I've got a few more links from the Metroplex, but I still like TXDOT's site the best. That way, I can also look at messages transmitted to travelers on their dynamic message signs.

Here are the others.

MyFox Dallas | Traffic Home (http://www.myfoxdfw.com/myfox/pages/Traffic;jsessionid=BE95D8B64979A4F3B167503091432AF 6?pageId=10.1 - broken link)

How about radio stations... I know that when I lived in Chicago there was an AM station dedicated 24/h for traffic only. Is there one locally?

That's a good question. I do know that a lot of the DFW raea stations give traffic reports every so often. We have XM and there is a Dallas channel and all it gives is traffic reports for Dallas/Fort Worth. We use that a lot if I am in the car.

Best one I can think of is KRLD 1080...they do weather and traffic on the 8s...even on the weekends...

If I'm in traffic on a Saturday afternoon I switch over to get the report at 5:18 or 5:28...

We did have an AM station dedicated solely to doing traffic all day exclusively many years ago (about the mid-90s), and that was the old 1150 KDMM. It wasn't very well-done even though it was a good idea and needed, but the people broadcasting on it were not up to snuff. If we tried that concept today, it would certainly be much better now because of improved technology.

Ya I agree with that. I also can check the traffic on my Blackberry, so that is also very helpful!

XM is fine, but I don't subscribe to it. Thankfully, there are so many sources, but of course, if we're in our cars, then it would be KRLD or WBAP (both of which do traffic reports during commercial breaks on weekdays).
