Monopoly was on the southeast corner of NW Highway and Abrams behind the funeral home, meat market, Wendy's, Shakey's (I don't think that was still there but had to add).

It was originally a dinner theater, trying to remember the name... I was in Monopoly's the night the Delta flight crashed at DFW and it was broadcast all over the club..

That was in 1985, a couple of years after I got married and was off the club scene (I remember hearing about the crash in our next door neighbor's pool - which was kind of weird, since he was an airline pilot with American). I don't remember Monopoly's, and I think I hit them all before I hung them up. But from the location, that sounds like it might have been a place on the NW Highway side of the Medallion Center. The building I'm thinking of was a night spot in the 1977-78 time frame called "Bogies". Frankly, that place didn't have a lot to set it apart from the competition, apart from a lot of pictures of Bogart on the walls.

Is that the place where Monopoly's was, or was it elsewhere?

I was on the way to a concert when that plane crashed. I remember them saying on the radio that they needed blood, but I can't remember who I was seeing or where. My memory has gotten horrible.

Dewey Groom's Longhorn Ballroom.

I need help with this one before it drives me crazy. It was a small bar-b-que place that only cooked up so much bar-b-que and when it was sold out, they closed for the day. Just a tiny place, little desk like boothes that lined the wall and if you were lucky enough to get one you had to eat right by the line of customers waiting to place their order. We always took ours outside and in the summertime let the tailgate down on the truck and sat on it and ate. They'd put your order on a middle sized pizza pan. Actually, it was a pretty famous place and it was on the news some years back about it's closing. Cannot for the life of me rememer the name. Maybe Sonny B's or something like that? Grrrrr.....help me out, please.

Great thread, I've just got to get my thinking cap on.
Sonny Bryan's was run by the son and grandson in the mid to late 70's. They would even run out of onion rings on certain days!

Default bar b que?

I thought you might have been talking about Princes Hamburgers on Lemmon Ave. But there was a little BBQ place down Industrial Blvd from the Sportatorium that sounds more like you could be talking about. I don't know the name

Oooh Remember when Bank of america plaza downtown was lined in argon tubing?!?!...Well pretty soon it will be a thing of the past . The building known as "The Green Building"(I work Here) is currently undergoing a renovation. It includes updating of the lobby, food court and creating a drive up court out front....AND....The Argon tubing is being replaced with led lighting. It will change to all colors of the rainbow....So Dallas-ish...

OK, not sure what I think of this. The changing color thing seems pretty common now, even he new Omni does that. The constant green is so unique and I find it very reassuring.....you can see from all over the metro.

I agree with this...but however I am ready to see the building trimmed in a different color too.Hopefully they just leave it green and change colors only on special occasions.
