My 4yr. old son has been adviced surgery and one of the hospitals recommended is Pediatric Surgery Center on W. Plano Parkway.I wanted to know if someone has had any experience with this center. The other hospital is Presby Plano.I am in two minds coz the former is especially for kids.Any opinions will be very helpful to me.thank you.

1. Depends on the surgery if I'll go w/ a surgery center or a hospital.
2. Is the surgery center attached to or right next to a hospital.
3. Surgeon........ same surgeon for both locations (very likely nowadays).

Kind of hard to say if I'd go w/ a surgery center for ANY surgery be it an adult or child. My recent surgery I did prefer it to be done in the hospital even though the surgeon does it often in a surgery center. Only thing I did not like was the surgery center was not close to a hospital. The hospital was closer to my home as well. Surgery was laproscopic and a day surgery but I still felt more comfortable in a hospital "just in case". Facing another surgery and may move to a LARGE hospital (Baylor Dallas or Presby Dallas) instead of one of the suburban ones because of the type of surgery. Just depends on what YOU are comfortable with.

Pediatric Surgery Center is a large facilty in west Plano that is close to numerous hospitals - from mere yards away to only a couple of miles away. I live close by and have heard nothing but good things said about Pediatric Surgery Center, but I have no first-hand experience to share. If you have been given a choice between PSC and a hospital it's clear that either place can handle your child's medical procedure. However, you and your child may appreciate that PSC is more accustomed to handling the special needs of children - pre-op and post-op.

Wishing you and your child all the best...

If it is the same surgeon for either location........... talk to them. See which one they are most comfortable performing the particular surgery your son is having.

My youngest had day surgery when she was 7 months old at a surgical center that was on the street right behind the hospital (Medical City Dallas). Of course being a mom and all and it was my baby...... I was a bottle of nerves. She did fine, it was me that needed the drugs . Even after the surgery in recovery the nurses were all cooing over her and said she did wonderful and never made so much as a whimper. They all joked since she was one of the first of the day it was sure to be all downhill from there. It is tough when it is our babies so the best advice I can say........ talk to the surgeon and if your comfortable w/ them being the ones doing the surgery trust what they say. And pray

My 5 Yr old son had surgery there two weeks back , and our experience has been good. Infact they kept calling me after the surgery to make sure he was ok . ( I was unable to call them back as I was really busy at work).
I would say the facility is good but yes it all depends on the DR and the surgery which would be the most important points to consider.
