No, I'm in college and I don't want to pay out of state tuition elsewhere.

The first...varies. Last summer it was about 800 miles. This year it'll be anywhere from 640 miles to ~1500, occasionally more.

The second...because I've been effectively bribed to live down here.

When I retire I hope to live half of the year about 7,400 miles from here. How's THAT for far away?

To travel 640~1,500 miles each weekend during the summer sounds like a lot of trouble, not to mention time consuming as well as costly. I just don't get it...

It's not that big a deal, actually. Kind of fun. And the cost...well, it's nothing.

That's not what I consider fun at all. I own property in CA, NC and NYC and I'd hate to think of traveling from Dallas to any of them for just a weekend...almost every summer weekend. Forget about the cost... No way.

Everyone's different. Some people don't mind going through airports for day or weekend trips, and some people don't mind being out in 105 degree heat playing golf.

And still other people would say that anyone liking EITHER of those pursuits is crazy.

(at least I'm not going through airports to fly somewhere that's 105 degrees to play golf)

Denton County can't catch a break - the rain to the west of us has just been vaporizing before it gets to us like we've got a high pressure cap over us... three days in a row.

I enjoyed this. That was us. I'm in Pittsburgh and it's just gotten warm most days. Every other day it's the AC or heater. We're kinda ready for either still.

But it's frustrating weather when you're cooped up - either here or there.

But the very cool thing is that we're so used to cruddy cold weather that I think winters will be nice for us and I'm thinking most months tolerable except maybe July/Aug? As far as cold goes, we can handle sunny 40s with normal clothes and light jacket, even with some flurries of some thirties.

Same thing happens where we currently live.
