She also said most people do get the window units. She's just good at dealing with the heat (as much as she complains about it). It must be common for apartments not to come with them though.
She's been in the actual city this whole time, yes? Only asking because the city and certain parts of some near 'burbs have a larger amount of older buildings (3-flats and certain multi-unit structures) that don't have air.

Not surprisingly, almost all the newer buildings (and by "newer", I mean "built in the last 35 years or so", so some of that would be "old" by Dallas standards. ) have central air/built in AC units.

Thanks for the update.

As an aside, even my cheapo apartment here in DFW has an awfully good AC (central air, of course).

If this keeps up, Dallas' weather reputation is going to be ruined!

It will bypass Richardson, keeping its reputation intact.

The first two apartments, yes. I'm not sure about the third but I'd bet it is as well.

I wondered why it's been chilly feeling recently. Now I know... Half the country has been warmer than DFW so far this summer.

Default 100 degrees plus and driving rain......

Arriving at my house a bit ago I noticed the temperature was right at 101 F plus a nice downpour. That's not a good combination.
