Just wanted to throw this out there and see what people on both sides are thinking. What do you feel the political/social climate will be like in Dallas several years from now? With a large influx of people from all parts of the country moving here, and Dallas becoming a bus. hub, how do you think this will affect us? I have my thoughts, but want to hear yours.

I lived here during the 70's. It was such a different place then. Came back to Dallas 2 years ago and it seems to me that us Yankees are the least of your problems now!! Can't believe how many people from other countries you have here! That scares me more!

I'm afraid it will turn out like Houston.

Being an ex-yank, I have to vote positive because when we cash out from up north, we (generally speaking) bring a whole bunch of cash with us. All of that money is/will be spent locally. That can't hurt.

I don't think this is so true, many move from the north or east because they have lost their jobs or need to live someplace with a lower cost of living. As more people move in the cost of housing etc will esculate and Texas will not be a popular. Plus many people in the south prefer to keep the southern flair in their state, be it Texas, OK, So Carolina, or wherever. More people from other parts of the country will erode the flair.

I voted, not sure. For all the bad, yes there will be good.

What I find funny is what some Texans' ideas are of who is a yankee. A few people I've talked to said that Virginia is yankee country. Really? The Mason Dixon line is a bit further north than the TX-OK border. LOL.

You mean there's something north of the TX-OK state line?

I heard that dumb line a million times when I lived in MD. People there were saying MD was south of the Mason Dixon line so MD was considered the south. I THINK NOT!

People from Virginia are yankees..... period.

Most of the Yankees I encountered in NYC last month were surprisingly friendly. One native New Yorker on the plane even helped us get to our hotel via taxi & the subway.
