The H1N1 flu virus never really went away. In my office throughout the summer I've been seeing 1-2 patients a week testing positive for influenza A - (presumptive H1N1 - the health department asked us to stop sending positive flu A samples for H1N1 testing as most of them were and the turnaround time was more than 2 weeks) Now that school is in session the number of cases will dramatically increase. Fortunately for now Tamiflu still seems pretty effective.

Typically the height of our 'normal' flu season is December-February, so it will definitely be interesting to see what happens this season.

Hilarious! We backed that up and watched it over and over and laughed and laughed.

We all got our flu shots yesterday. There have been cases of the flu all summer long. It has been strange. The pharmacist at Tom Thumb told us that they are seeing several cases a day of the flu and at least 1-2 a week of the swine flu.

For those wanting to know where to get their REGULAR flu shot (the H1N1 will not be out till October) here is what I found out. Also, many places will NOT give it to children.
Doctors offices - many don't have it yet available.
CVS - some do not have the flu vaccine in yet.
Walgreens - they have it but some locations do not offer it everyday. Call first to see if the pharmacist is in that can give it. They will also give it to anyone age 9 and up.
Tom Thumb - they have it and will give it to anyone age 14 and up.
Independent pharmacy - they will usually give it to children age 3 and up. Call around. There is one in Garland on Broadway that will and the one in Carrollton on Rosemeade at Josey would as well.
