The one on LaVista is at the crown of Swiss Avenue (not mentioned in the article) - it has a view of Downtown over Swiss from upstairs. Willetta Stellmacher, retired showgirl and super-landlord, has lived there for the past 25 years. I don't don't like to tell a lady's age but her late husband was in the first class at Woodrow (1929).

most of them are georgeous--just think it is super telling that none of them are the McMansions being touted in real estate ads...
the modern house is that--a modern house--which is not going to show up in anyone's local subdivision anytime soon...
just wonder why you would live in such large homes and not have more bathrooms---and wonder what their utility bills run
probably as much as most people's mortgages

I really like the one on Rheims built in 1998 - except for the sloped metal roof, it's similar to one of Dilbeck's International Style (post Deco) houses - there are a few of those on Pershing in Cochran Heights (Knox-Henderson) down from the Old Monk.

I had classmates living both sides of the one on Tokalon - Dr. Steinbach was in the PTA but I've still never been into that house - interesting fact about those - they have an acre of land behind them - my classmate on the west side used to keep bees back there! The one on the other side is related to Ebby and his uncles who grew up there were the famous football players Sid Halliday (WW '39) and Jack Halliday (WW '46).
