That may be close to the truth for this winter, but this has been an unusually cold winter in Dallas as well as many other places in the US. According to this source Texas Climate Data, December - February in Dallas typically has average lows in the 30's and average highs in the 50's. That would be very mild for someone coming from Northern Europe.

DFW is also #4 or #5 among the largest populations in the US (TV markets). It is a good place to make money but there is very little outdoor activities or outdoor beauty in this area. Dry, almost desert like climate but good economic opportunities.
As someone who lived in Las Vegas for 18 mos; I can assure you the climate in DFW is nowhere near 'desert like'.

Wow, it stays above 90 for how many months? Even at night?

The cold will not be an issue for us. We had all time record breaking -40,72 F's measured three weeks back right next to my father in law's house. Luckily we do not live on that side of the country anymore. However it's very typical too see 0-15 F temperatures even around the area where we currently life. But would prefer much warmer climate of course. It's one of the main reasons for the whole move.

Then you will love our winters. Beware of the summers though.
