"Taco Bell sucks, I'd rather go to Taco Bueno."

Sadly, I've been avoiding the Caruth location since In-N-Out opened.

I had a friend from Memphis tell me that Backyard Burgers, based in Memphis, is awesome in Memphis, where it's less fast food and more like a restaurant. I was told not to judge Backyard burgers by the crap sold at these franchised locations outside of the Memphis area, she said it was nothing like the the original.

I asked the mgr. there what was up, and it was the only location that made their salsa fresh every day; the others usually used canned/bottled salsa. Ate there again about a year ago and it's still a bit different. Some dishes are maybe a bit different but not much. But I still love their bottled salsa better than most other places. And their chips are unique and the best I've ever had. Period.

Funny how people trash the place. I'll agree that some of their dishes are better than others - cheese enchiladas are the best in Dallas IMHO. And readers of D Magazine recently voted it as their favorite Tex Mex restaurant.
I didn't say the food tasted bad.

I said the service sucks. Which it does.

Has the Coit location opened yet? Drove by on Coit today, saw cars but it looked like they might still be getting it ready/training. The family night turned out to be at the I30 training location, not at the site.

Taco Bueno - I'm pretty sure that's where I ordered a breakfast taco and got tator tots & cheese wiz wrapped in a tortilla. One thing I like about visiting my family in the RGV, their breakfast tacos rock!

That's like saying "Taco Bell sucks, I'd rather go to Cantina Laredo". Swing and miss much?
