Do any of you lovely people here know of any butcher shops with polish sausage? Our local grocery only has the prepackaged stuff.

Thanks!

Check with Charlie's Imports on Troy Street. They aren't a butcher shop, but have blood sausage. I am thinking Polish as well. Otherwise, and prob. a sure bet, is Dot's Supermarket:

Dot's Market, Home Page <--- They are a real butcher.

Goto the one on Patterson Road and go straight to the back butcher counter, grab a number, and hang tight..

East Dayton Meat

This is where I go for Polish sausage, Italian sausage, and every other kind of sausage I have ever wanted.

I forgot all about EDM. Thanks for the reminder. Used to shop there until I discovered Dots.

It looks like from their website, no Polish but they do have bratwurst.

Chrarlies sells kiska, which is pretty hard to find. Dont know about the other kind of Polish sausage.

Charlie's was the first place I ever tried blood sausage. I never thought I would like it but it was damned good. I used to go there lunch and get the Chicago hot dogs most times. They have a dining area in the back. Cool place. I go there whenever I am in Dayton and have the time.

Big fan of Charlies.

I get my bread (rye bread) there, and metturst, smoked liverwurst, and salad herbs, and maybe other stuff sometimes. I'll get blood sausage for my folks.

They "import" their bread from Canada, and its pretty close to what I grew up with in Chicago.

I think you can get this in Cincy, though..blood sausage. Maybe Avril-Bleh on Court Street? Or at Findlay Market?

I haven't seen it at Findlay, but haven't specifically looked for it. I have had liver ring sausage from Eckerlin though. I still need to goto Avril-Bleh. The website looks like it's a really cool shop.

You guys are the best! My mom grew up in the Chicagoland area with a Polish dad, so she definitely wants to find a local place here with Polish sausage.
