Is it just me, or am I noticing more construction in Dayton than there has been for like twenty years? I mean.... over the past years we've seen quite a few changes. They're building that rec center off the highway north of downtown, the caresource building just finished a while ago, theres that ice skating rink by the river, the highway, main street, miami valley hospital with that huge 16 story heart wing, tech town, UD has expanded Brown Street, and just overall, it feels like a lot of things are happening in Dayton! I really think things are starting to pick up again and I hope this trend continues with the former Parkside land and many other places. But seriously, why do you think this trend has started? Loss of jobs and now we have to rebuild the city again or just luck that we are starting to get things done?

A lot of the construction south of downtown is centered around Miami Valley Hospital. The construction at Riverscape is a cool thing and will add to people having something else to do to enjoy downtown. Caresource is a trend that needs to continue. The bridges and roads are questionable. On one hand they do improve Dayton's roads and bridges on the other hand the city comission, aka outgoing mayor mclin, points to these projects as part of Dayton's progress. repairing infrastructure is not progress, it's maintenance.

Besides Miami Valley and Caresource, none of these things bring any permanent jobs. Parkside will remain a park until we get jobs and that takes enticing and growing businesses that will bring people back into the city. The mayor-elect has a better handle on these things than I do and he will address the obstacles that have stifled Dayton's businesses from growing or staying here.
