Actually, we didn't get one this year. It has been a long time since we had such a quiet storm year. I used to live on the beach area in north Florida and there was one year where I got so tired of packing the car until I just left it packed (for evacuation) until the season was over.
Then there was the year when I evacuated to my parents house in central Florida....and THEY got the hurricane and where I evacuated from didn't. We were stuck for 2 days with horrible weather without any electricity at their house when we could have been home watching TV at our own house.
oh I feel your hurricane pain. Was born and raised on the gulf coast and sat out every hurricane through Katrina. Left after that one. The no power for 2-3 weeks afterwards did me in and I had a generator

After a quiet year like this year, it is easy to forget what a total pain in the butt it is to have to live through one. I think Katrina would have done me in as well. That was a massive deal. Everyone always refers to New Orleans and forgets all the other states that suffered so much.

I still don't get why N.O. got 99% of the coverage since most of the real damage was in Ms and a portion of Alabama. One entire town in Ms. was wiped out.....as in totally! Almost all my family and lots of my friends in Ms lost everything.
We didn't have any really significant damage since we were so high above sea level and the storm surge was the biggest issue but we were without power for weeks.
Now all we have to worry about(and we don't worry) is a possible earthquake and one of the volcanos erupting.

Now....see.....I would rather have to bungie cord myself to a tree during a hurricane than deal with anything resembling a VOLCANO! That is on the top of my list as totally not acceptable!!!
I hate going to bed because that means my weekend is over. But, I guess I need to. I'll go see what people on HGTV will bug me tonight.
Pretty, pretty!
I love decorating, I love looking at the finished results, but I hate cleaning up and putting everything away.
So if my girl isn't coming over (from Europe) for the holidays I only put out 2 things. Lighted stars in the bay window; and a huge green glass bottle filled with a string of tiny lights.
She was here last year, can't come over this year.
I'm back!!!!!! Had a great time ( as usual). Two weeks before we go again!!!!!! I love camping in the winter.
Got all the Christmas stuff out of the attic last night, now trying to sort it all out. Going to donate a bunch of it that we just never use. it's going to great when it's time to pack it all away this time. It will just go in the barn and be much easier to get to next year.
^I once spent Christmas Eve on Springer Mountain, at the southern terminus of the Appalachian Trail. It was just what I needed that year. Turned out to be a pretty good Christmas. The same year, I was probably camping for New Year's Eve, too (it was a road trip that lasted about 3 months) but I don't recall where exactly I was.
