Hi All, I'm considering a move to Sussex County from Seattle and I'm having a hard time finding a rental! It's just me and my dog, so a small place is fine...

Does anyone know an agent that deals with rentals or have any leads on places they can share?

Rob

Rob.. You probally need to target a little closer than Sussex County. Western Sussex is generally rural agriculture with towns heavy on unemployment.. Eastern Sussex is the beach area which is much more expensive and upscale. The Guide is a Sussex publication which lists many rentals The Guide also check classified at www.capegazette.com

Ditto on what longnecker posted....if you are interested in the Bethany Beach/Ocean View area, I can advise. Just let me know the price range; there are a few pet-friendly rentals I'm aware of in my area.

Yeah, good point. I'm used to the small counties we have out here is Washington.

Anyway, I'm a paramedic and, with luck, will be working for the county. The main office is in Georgetown, but I can live anywhere. I'm going to eventually buy a small house, but I'd like to rent for a bit to be able to spend time looking...

I just haven't had any luck with the usual rental sources on line. Any help you can offer would be a help. I'd like to keep the rent under 1000. 800 would be better. And yeah, it does need to be pet friendly.

O.k....depending on what you do/do not want to be around can help us guide you, for sure. If you are interested in living at the beach, I do know of a mobile home nearby that is pet friendly and rents for under $1000. The people around it are pretty quiet too. We have rentals in my neighborhood, but they are all taken at the moment and rent for no less than $1400/month.

Let us know if there are any particular features you are looking for (parks, night life, low crime, etc.).

I don't think I need to be close to the beach. I'd really like a place with a fenced yard. That's about it...

The Dagsboro or Millsboro area may have more rentals available for you. I'm going to be very honest and not recommend the Laurel or Seaford area to you even though it's cheap living--too much crime.

You'll probably have more luck with Millsboro than Dagsboro. Selbyville isn't bad either, just stay away from certain areas. Sorry that I don't really know offhand of any direct sources you could contact other than area realtors. I can, however, advise you of any knowledge I have on certain areas you'd be interested in once you locate some rentals.

Maybe somebody else can advise on here?? Best of luck to you, robwalker. Let me know if you have any other questions....
