I am going to be commuting to work from Marlton, NJ to New Castle, DE. Is it better to take the Turnpike or 295? It looks like the Turnpike route is about 3-4 miles further, but my understanding is that it moves a little bit faster than 295.

Thanks!

if you can get on 295 south of exit 26 then I would stick with 295.

The travel time between exit 36 and 26 can be horrible at times on 295 especially in the afternoon

I would get on at the Woodcrest entrance (32). I will be leaving at about 3:45 PM each day. Based on this info, which option is better?

Thanks!

Negligible difference. Less places to get pulled over on the Tpke.

I am a turnpike-taker...I have traveled both ways many times. I prefer the straight road drive with little traffic entering and exiting. I also feel as if I can maintain the same speed for the distance of the turnpike. I frequent Ocean Co, NJ via exit 4 and the Atlantic City area via exit 2 on a regular basis. Try each way to see if you may have a preference.

Thanks for the input! I am going to try the turnpike and see if it is smoother. 295 isn't bad, but I feel like I'm constantly reducing my speed for upcoming and entering traffic.

I will be traveling from Dover De. to Burlington Vermont in late August. Are there any decent alternate routes to take to avoid the Jersey Turnpike ?
