My husband and I each accepted a job offer in DE. He is a corporate attorney and I work in regulatory affairs. We are looking into houses in Westover Hill neighborhood. We only saw one house at 900k price range, which is very diasppointing. My husband thought our price range is too low for a decent quality house in that neighborhood. I disagree with him. I would like to ask the local on this. What should we set our price range for a updated 4-bedroom house (3,000 sqft) in this neighborhood? Thanks!

I'm surprised that a couple with the stated professional backgrounds would come to a website like this to determine zip code property values that are more easily researched elsewhere on the net.

Thank. However, your price range is way beyond what most of us regulars could afford. I'd suggest a buyer broker who knows the higher-end market.

Three bedrooms in 19807 can be found for under 500K. A 4 bedroom might be found for under 600K. One section of Westover Hills, as well as Westhaven and West Park are the areas in19807 where you can find houses at this price point. There are at least a couple of houses in Westhaven that are presently on the market -- I walk around there all the time. You need to get a real estate agent.

There are a number of nice listed properties in the 19807 zip near 3,000 sf under $600K that would be a proper corp. attorney image house for entertaining etc. etc. in Delaware!

We are interested in the houses on Berkeley Rd. and its four side streets (Kent, Stuart, Cecil and Augusta) in Westover Hills. Is there any insider info on this area of Westover hill? We are working with Realtors, but they can not be fully trusted, because they are completely driven by financial gain of sales. It seems the fellow bloggers can provide the third party, unbias oppinions. Any input would be much appreciated.

OK, so you want the most high status, pricey place you can get. In that case expect to pay the better part of a million. Or more. You know, frankly, I wonder how well you will fit into DE. I wish I could think of a kinder way of putting it, but you convey such an attitude of entitled materialism.

Your judgement is a little harsh, but understandable. Me and my husband are looking for the best neighborhood that we can afford in order to provide our only son the best education opportunities. We both are first generation college graduates and we had to put so much more efforts to just get where our upper- middle class peers started.
