My wife and I are currently renting in Trolley Square but are looking to possibly buy within the next year or two. I am 31 and she is 28. We don't have kids, so school districts aren't a factor. We both commute to work in New Castle County. I find Trolley to be a great location for renters, but it seems overpriced for someone in the market to buy. We priced matched, and for around the same price that we are going to pay for 2 bedroom 1.5 bath 1,000 square foot row home in Trolley Square, we can get a detached home in North Wilmington with a carport and larger yard. The only advantage I find that Trolley has over North Wilmington is that it's walking distance to the bars. If nightlife isn't a factor, why pick Trolley Square over North Wilmington when it comes to buying a starter home? Does anyone on here live in either of those two areas and could throw in his or her two cents?

North Wilmington. I love Trolley Square, but if the only thing looking like an advantage is the bars, consider that there are a couple of brewpubs in North Wilmington now. Two Stones and Ulysses. It's a little more interesting now than it was in the 80's, anyway. And the city is a short drive. Plus, you're just a few minutes closer to The City, meaning Philly.

Not to mention there are two Famous Taverns in North Wilmington, one on Naamans and the other on Marsh. Every drink is $3 all day everyday.
