As a very proud daughter of a WW II Veteran, who was a Purple Heart recipient, I live today because of the sacrifices of all of you and your families and never a day passes that I don't remember that.

America, regardless of your politics, has afforded us many privileges and today most especially, we owe a debt of gratitude to each and every man and woman who has served this great country and their families, some of whom never saw their family member again after they left for the service.

You have my sincere thanks for your time and service to this country.

Yes indeed. Thank you to all who have served our country and to the many that are still living with their ultimate sacrifice.

Remembering and giving thanks to all Veterans! I have the most wonderful job in the world....meeting and serving Veterans on a daily basis, in all 3 counties of Delaware. The travel is worth it...from Delmar's rural area to western Sussex County, to the eastern beach areas, to rural Kent county towns and countryside, up to center city Wilmington, east to the Delaware Bay, West to the Maryland boundary, and north to the PA boundary! Veterans are the best! That's why, at 78 yrs. old, I'm not retiring!

Here's a link from the Smyrna-Clayton Sun Times, and a story this wounded Veteran tells.

Mine too - 101st. POW in Germany. I'm young (Gen-X) to have a WWII dad - he was in his fifties when I was born. Missing him today.

His grandfather, my great grandfather, was a Civil War vet (again a big generation gap. Dad's mother was the youngest of 10). Family lore has it he was a drummer boy, but I haven't been able to corroborate that except for the fact that he was, in fact, very young then.

RDLR, thanks for the link to Col. Jones and his story that truly touches on what this day is all about. Gerania, thanks too for the last line of your above post. I, of course, always am thankful for the reservists but it never hursts to put them in the same framework on Veterans day, as they are often overlooked. Thank you.
