Friends who plan to move to DE have got me considering the same thing.

I am a work-at-home writer & would prefer a town close to a college or university, good medical facilities, & public transportation linking it w/Wilmington/Dover/Philadelphia. I'm interested in a walking town w/plenty of community activities. I don't want to have to drive 15 miles to see a movie! My model is Doylestown, PA.

I'd like to find something for $200,000 or less & don't want to cut grass or shovel snow. I'm ambivalent about 55+ communities. I don't want to be one of the few younger or single women in the neighborhood.

Since discovering this forum this evening, I've read many of the posts and been impressed by the gracious sharing of information.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions that will help me narrow my choices.

Renee

Newark, DE has the University of Delaware and is a walking town. The town has a main street with stores and restaurants and a shopping center at the end with a movie theater and bowling alley. I love Newark.

As for housing, are you thinking of a condo since you don't want to mow grass? Best bet would be to look it up on realtor.com and plug in zip code 19711 and see what's there in your price range.

There is a train from Newark to Wilmington and Philly.

Good luck!
Kathy

I ditto the above. It is hard to beat that wonderful town of Doylestown, PA .........But, Newark should have just about what your looking for, and at the price you suggested. Best of Luck!
