Not knowing exactly where you will be living, you are smart to stay with Verizon. The odds are on your side that they will have good, if not the best, coverage in the area. Get more Cellular Moving Tips.

sjkern,

Sorry for the delay in adding this post... we've been moving these last few weeks and I'm just catching up here on C-D. I just found out Verizon will bundle the home phone and cell, if that is of use to you. We are getting Verizon for our land line, as our former carrier informed us that our property is "not serviceable"! Now, my calls home to check on the kids will not eat up my minutes, which is also helpful for us.

When did you say you're moving? From what I gather Verizon is gaining some ground on services throughout DE.

Mary

I have T-Mobile, but I worked in cell phone sales for years for Sprint and T-Mobile, and I would rank them, best to worst, as:

Verizon (CDMA - Best Domestic)
AT&T (GSM - Best International)
Sprint (CDMA - Domestic)
T-Mobile (GSM - International)
Nextel (IDEN - Domestic)

Verizon and ATT are pricey, Sprint has a bad reputation for higher than normal bills, Nextel is notorious for dead zones, and T-Mobile has the least coverage, but best customer service.

MetroPCS is by far the cheapest, but I don't know enough about it as it is brand new in the area.

Forget Alltel in the Northeast.

I have Verizon and have not found any other service that can handle the beach area and "dead" zones especially when traveling along the eastern shore of Maryland. One of my family members is a trucker and he has another service. It seems he has to deal with a lot of lost calls when making his route from lower NJ to the lower part of Delaware. It will depend on where you plan on using your phone. I worked right at the beach and Verizon was the only service that was reliable because they own most all those towers in that area.
