Roesville really does seem to be the best deal for the money. I hope all these little wrinkles do get ironed out.

It is nice to have this blog; to keep us all informed of our common interest in finding a 55+ community that fits our budget and aspirations.

I agree - I still like it a lot but we'll visit other places too - the more you see and read, the more informed you are and the better a decision you can make (hopefully, anyway!) - I'd feel better w/ the clubhouse being built etc but realistically, building might be slower w/ the fall and winter around the corner (not that I'm complaining, had enough of the summer! ). This sharing of the past few days is really great, keep it coming, folks!

Charlie what Rich was saying the reason is they would have to charge the few residents that live there $300.00 or more dollars a month for the HOA. Then the cost would go down after more people moved in. That is why they want to make part of the club house, so they can charge $108 or whatever the monthy post club house fee is. It should not be that way, it is not like that at Independence and other places.

I wonder what is happening with the fees at Champion's Club. Not sure of the exact numbers but I would say there are only 16/20 homes occupied there. They've had the clubhouse and swimming pool open for two years now.
I just can't imagine how they are keeping up with all the expenses. A few of my + 55 neighbors offered to pay a fee if they would offer memberships to the age qualified couples in the adjacent community but they were not open to the idea. Not that I blame them but I'm sure communities such as this could use the extra income, and I could use a place to cool off in the summer.. as there are no swim clubs in the area.

Interesting about Champions Club, I wasnt aware of that at all. One of the motels around here used to do that too, not sure if they still do, it seems practical (no swim clubs around here either unless you want to join the Y which isnt very close and is kind of costly). When we lived in CT, we had an outdoor Y as well as an indoor Y in our town and that was great, it was a long time ago and I'm sure the outdoor Y was extra but it was so nice meeting people and the kids really learned to swim there, it was almost our 'home away from home'. It might not be a bad idea to open trips and other activities to other 55+ communities if their quota isnt full and they have room on the bus (or whatever), am assuming many of the communities are in the same general area (although my sense of direction leaves something to be desired!), sounds like it w/b a win-win situation for everyone as long as there's room and the facility is sitting there, unused.

I wonder if it wouldn't be better to keep this thread less about 55+ communities and more for general Delaware chat. It would be hard for someone to jump in here with a different topic without feeling like they were busting up the party. Just a suggestion.

Well, it's an off-topic thread, so any topic is always welcome. It just so happens that at the moment, most who are participating are looking to relocate to a 55+ Delaware community or already live in one so the conversation naturally gravitated that way. As others join in, I'm sure the topic will slide over to something else ... maybe even back to the finches or White Castle or the Eagles (the football team OR the rock band) or ...

Default How 'bout the weather????

summer shore ended awfully quick. I think we had close to 4 " of rain since last night. We even had a tornado watch in all three counties. Anyone have any damage? I really don't mind though.
Actually glad to feel the cool weather.
