The one time I went through that was when I had my wisdom teeth out, and I remember they gave me Valium through an IV. (not sure if I had anything else) I wasn't completely out of it, but afterwards I had very little recollection of the procedure.
I have had both... IV sedation for removal of wisdom teeth... I was totally out and did not wake up until after it was all over. I also had "conscious sedation" twice, because I get anxious about dental work (actually have gotten a bit better since then) and chose it when I had numerous fillings replaced and a second time when I needed to have a tooth pulled. I was very pleased with the procedure and did not feel that I should have chose IV sedation instead. I was not anxious, time flew by and I did not really remember anything about what was done afterwards and no IV. Also I am very hard to numb, which is why I have had major dentist anxiety since I was a teen, but the conscious sedation helped with that and I had zero pain. I highly recommend it.

I had IV sedation for an oral surgery. I have dental phobia and was literally shivering when I was on the hot seat. But once I was sedated, I don't remember anything at all until everything was done. Best dental experience . I will be getting bone grafting and implants done and will surely opt for IV sedation. Insurance might not cover it though.
If not IVsedation, laughing gas is a great option for wisdom teeth removal or minor dental surgeries for those who have dental phobia. Here, you are aware of what's going on but in a deep relaxed state that it doesn't bother you. It was a great experience as well
I’m having an Alveoloplasty done tomorrow and I’m scared to death they told me I will only have a local but I want an iv sedation or gas anyone ever have this done
I've had surgeries for dental implants 3 times, all with IV sedation. I don't know what he used but I remember NOTHING. No pills to take beforehand- just intravenous. I go in knowing from past experience that I'll lie back, quit conversing at some point, and wake up when it's over. Great stuff.

Where did you have the implants done and the approximate cost per implant?
I once asked the extra cost of IV sedation for dental and they said around $250 extra.

Overland Park, KS. Oral surgeon charged about $3,500 and the dentist will likely charge $1,500 when the prosthetic tooth is installed, based on past experience. The IV sedation was priced separately and I happened to have the records in front of me since I've started on my taxes- 2 15-minute intervals at $245 each. I'm guessing that's in line with your estimate since whatever work you were doing wouldn't have taken as long- the oral surgeon had to remove a molar with a hairline crack in it, put in a bone graft and then put in the implant.
Definitely wouldn't have wanted to be awake for that!

That's roughly the same as what I charge.
