Hello all! A person I know got his wisdom teeth out three weeks ago. And today he woke up with a little bit of swelling out of nowhere on the left side of his face. Why did this happen? Will it go away quickly?

Thanks.

He should check his temperature and call his dentist.

Also they may have given him some instructions before leaving the dentist's office. Might want to re-read those.

He should go and have it checked out at the dentist immediately. It could be a number of things - could even be something called dry socket. Like another poster said - check his temperature because it could be an infection. Although it has been three weeks and was he healing pretty well up to this point? Hope all is well, but he won't know it until he goes to the dentist.
