Sorry if this has been discussed before. I had a small lump cut out from the inside of my lip a few days ago. The original pain had gone but covering the area which should be healing it is now completely white and a little tender. Is this normal or sign of infection ?
Take your temperature. If it's normal 98.6 (F), no infection at this point. If it's elevated, it may be, but the tenderness seems normal after surgery.

Call the surgeon who removed the lump and ask them what healing should look like at this point. It could be completely normal.
My DH went to the dentist, checking his tongue, the dentist found it completely white. He sent him to an oral surgeon for a biopsy. It came back normal.....with the dr saying that he probably chews on his tongue, at night. DH agreed with that. Same thing probably holds true, for and kind of injury, to the mouth.

New gum tissue always grows in white. It looks like some horrible creeping fungus, but it should be fine if there are no other symptoms.
